Bitcoin Escrow

Escrow lets you trade BTC with someone you don't fully trust — the funds stay locked until both sides are satisfied. Here's how Bitcoin escrow works, and where we stand on supporting it.

Bitcoin escrow holds the BTC for a deal in a neutral place — a third party or, on-chain, a smart contract — instead of sending it straight to the seller. Funds release only when both sides agree the terms are met. Note: CryptoEscrowService.com launches with USDT (TRC-20) on Tron; Bitcoin support is on the roadmap.

What Bitcoin escrow is

Bitcoin escrow solves the oldest problem in any deal between strangers: who goes first? If the buyer pays in BTC up front, the seller might vanish. If the seller delivers first, the buyer might never pay. Escrow removes the dilemma by parking the funds with a neutral party until the deal is done — then releasing them to the seller, or returning them to the buyer if it falls through. It's the Bitcoin version of the same idea behind any crypto escrow service. If the concept is new to you, what crypto escrow is covers the fundamentals.

How Bitcoin escrow works

There are two common forms:

  • Multi-signature (multisig). A 2-of-3 wallet is created between the buyer, the seller, and an escrow agent. Releasing the BTC needs any two of the three signatures — so neither party can move the funds alone, and the agent only steps in if there's a dispute.
  • Smart-contract escrow. On chains with programmable contracts, code holds the funds and enforces the release rules automatically, without a person holding a key. This is the model CryptoEscrowService.com is built on.

Either way, the flow is the same: agree terms, lock the funds, deliver, then release. The general version is laid out in how escrow works.

Where we stand: USDT first, Bitcoin on the roadmap

To be straight with you: CryptoEscrowService.com does not support Bitcoin at launch. We're going live with non-custodial, non-KYC escrow for USDT (TRC-20) on Tron, and Bitcoin support is planned for a later stage rather than a fixed date.

The reason is practical. On Tron, USDT settles in about three seconds and costs a fraction of a cent to move, and because it's pegged to the dollar, neither side is exposed to price swings while a deal is open. That makes the escrow experience fast, cheap, and predictable from day one. Bitcoin's escrow tooling — multisig and the rest — works differently and takes more to do well, so we'd rather ship it properly than rush it.

Want BTC escrow? Join the launch list below. We'll tell you the moment Bitcoin support is live — and in the meantime, USDT escrow covers most peer-to-peer and OTC deals today.

What you can use today

At launch you get the full non-custodial, non-KYC experience for USDT (TRC-20): a smart contract holds the funds, you connect a Tron wallet such as TronLink, and there's no account or ID to set up. The fee is a small flat percentage — on the order of about 1% — charged only on completed deals.

Bitcoin escrow FAQ

What is Bitcoin escrow?

Bitcoin escrow holds the BTC for a deal with a neutral third party — or, in the on-chain version, a smart contract — instead of sending it straight to the seller. The funds release only when both sides agree the terms are met, or are returned if they aren't.

Does CryptoEscrowService.com support Bitcoin yet?

Not at launch. The service goes live with USDT (TRC-20) on Tron. Bitcoin support is on the roadmap — join the launch list and we'll tell you when BTC escrow is available.

Why launch with USDT instead of Bitcoin?

USDT on Tron is dollar-pegged, settles in about three seconds, and costs a fraction of a cent per transfer — which keeps escrow fast, cheap, and free of price swings while a deal is in progress. Bitcoin's escrow tooling works differently and is planned for a later stage.

Is the escrow non-custodial and non-KYC?

Yes. Funds are held by an on-chain smart contract, not by us, and there is no sign-up, ID, or KYC. You only need a Tron wallet to use the USDT (TRC-20) escrow available at launch.

When will Bitcoin escrow be available?

It's on the roadmap rather than a fixed date. Leave your email and we'll notify you when BTC support ships — no spam.
